In all our programs, some meals will be included and some left at your own discretion (for some specific times, allowing you to discover some neighbourhoods for example).

Meals included will be indicated next to the Day thanks to the following abbreviations : BKF = Breakfast / LUN = Lunch / DIN = Dinner.

Note: Upon your arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport, it is possible to obtain your visa on arrival (VOA). Simply bring 1 passport picture along with between USD 30 and 45 / person in cash, visa fees varying from one nationality to another. Make sure your passport is valid at least 6 months beyond your return departure date. Visa on Arrival forms are available before immigration counters.


Welcome by your Lao English-speaking tour guide in the arrival hall and transfer to your hotel for check-in.

The crown jewel of Laos, Luang Prabang, is perhaps the best–preserved traditional town in Southeast Asia. It is a sleepy town that has a long-standing reputation as a stronghold of Lao culture with splendid natural scenery and a sense of timelessness. Magical and charming Luang Prabang is a destination that every traveler has to see once in their lifetime. In 1995, Luang Prabang was voted by the UNESCO as a World Heritage town.

Lunch at local restaurant.

We then ascend Phou Si hill. The hill commands great views over the town, the Mekong and the Nam Khan rivers and the mountainous ranges. It takes you 328 steps to reach the top, and at sunset set, the changing colors of the sky are particularly spectacular. The light reflecting on the golden spire of the temple at the top is also beautiful. The stairs are lined up with flamboyant and frangipani trees providing a deserved shade as you walk up and down.

Once back to ground level, end your day by stopping at the awakening Hmong minority people Night Market. It is held daily in the streets around the National Museum. Villagers come here to sell their handicrafts.

Dinner at Dyen Sabai restaurant, on the opposite shore of Nam Khan river (reachable by a little bamboo bridge). This charming place is perfect for a Sindad, the Laotian barbecue in which we grill on a metallic cupola our own thiny sliced meat and cook our vegetables in a bouillon. A friendly time particularly appreciated by locals !

Accommodation in Luang Prabang.


After breakfast, you will discover the main sites in Luang Prabang. You will thus visit the Royal Palace (turned into a national museum), the Heritage House (which will help you to better understand the protection and spotlight politics of Luang Prabang) and Vat Xieng Mouane (a unique occasion to discover an education center for manual occupations linked to Bouddhism).

You will lunch at Atsalin restaurant, a simple restaurant patronized by locals and expatriates (famous in particular for its pasta with duck). After eating, you will head to Vat Xieng Thong, one of the most beautiful temple in the area.

You will then board for a private cruise on the Mekong, to Pak Ou caves (at the junction between Mekong and Nam Ou river). You will discover there in theses legendary caves hundreds of Buddha statues, placed here and there (it is a famous place of pilgrimage for Laotians).

Back to peninsula, we will head to Vat Phra Bat Tai to contemplate the sunset on the Mekong : simply unforgettable. You will then be able to enjoy a petanque game in one of the many fields of the city : funny moments guaranteed during this good experience with locals, which are really skilled in it !

For dinner, you will go to the night market and its amazing street food. You will find large buffets, in which you will be able to mix your plate at will and settle with locals to enjoy your meal.


Early in the morning, head by Tuk-Tuk to the peninsula to witness and attend alms giving. Long lines of monks and novices stroll the street of the town center to collect their daily food subsistence from the worshippers. This ancient ritual is locally known as “Tak Bat”.

You will continue with a visit to the open-air food market that is held daily in the streets nearby the former Royal Palace. Lao people still like buying fresh food. While fridges are widely spread in households, people prefer going to local markets and returning home with fresh ingredients.

Return to the hotel for breakfast.

In the morning you will take an excursion to Kuang Si waterfalls, a picturesque series of cascading waterfalls hidden in the forest (bring your swimsuit if you would like to enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool water of the pools). En route to the falls, your guide will take you to some of the nearby ethnic minority villages for a look into Laotian rural life and a chance to interact with the locals. Enjoy picnic lunch on site.

You will also have the opportunity to visit the Asian Black Bear Rescue Center.

It is also possible to hike to the top of the falls via a steep trail, and if the weather is good, you might enjoy a swim in the crystal clear water ponds.

Return to town and enjoy Petanque games with local resident. Another French legacy here. This balling game is extremely popular with Lao gentlemen. Civil servants and retired people are numerous to gather in the late afternoon and evening to share some happy moments together. Bottles of Beer Lao are often around and chit-chat playing with friends is another opportunity to cheer on any occasion!

You will have dinner at Pamsai restaurant, in the laotian style! Dishes will be placed in a big table and shared all together in a friendly atmosphere.


Breakfast, and day fully free without guide or vehicle to discover the city and its surroundings at your own pace. We can nevertheless offer you different options.

Example : You will discover a weaving center, on the bank of the Mekong. Ock Pop Tok offers dyeing sessions, a hands-on experience with natural dye preparation to complete your own color dyes. At the end of the class you will take back home 3 dyed silk skeins. Many of the natural dyes used are grown in their garden. Just to name but a few colors will be turquoise, ochre, golden, ivory, emerald green, etc…

Example : You will join a very important ritual ceremony for Hmongs (a Laotian ethnicity).

These one, animists, perceive life as a circle of knowledge and rebirth around two worlds coexisting together. In accordance with their beliefs the human body is hosting souls living together, which can create diseases when they are isolated. To face this problem, Hmongs believe in recovery thanks to Shamans (which can get in contact with spirits and acting on them through offerings, generally around animal sacrifices). Indeed they believe animal souls are connected to human ones, and protect them. Through this experience you will better understand some local behaviors and discover a unique cultural heritage.

Example : You will discover a spinning top workshop, a toy particularly appreciated by Hmongs children. It is also a game played by adults for decades during spinning tops throws tournaments! You will craft your own wooden spinning top, before villagers propose you a game in a festive and warm atmosphere.

Breakfast and departure to Vang Vieng around 9am.

You will lunch at Phou Phieng Fa restaurant with an astonishing setting, surrounded by majestic mounts.

We will arrive around 3pm at Vang Vieng, a superb area full of karstic reliefs. You will be able to settle and enjoy a free end of the day to rest and delight in the amazing natural setting, in particular during the sunset.

Free time for the night.


Breakfast, and day fully free without guide or vehicle to discover the city and its surroundings at your own pace. We can nevertheless offer you different options.

Examples : A promenade in a motorized pirogue on Nam Song river during the sunset, with amazing majestic mounts in the background;

A mountain bike ride in the countryside to explore at your own pace Vang Vieng’s surroundings and its bucolic charm;

A breakaway in buggy or ATV, to spice up your discovering of these astonishing landscapes;

A kayak trip to descend the peaceful Nam Song river;

A hike to one of the numerous caves to visit in the area.

Breakfast and we will head to Vientiane, the capital (around 4h further).

At arrival you will lunch at Sep Eeli restaurant (noodles soup made with fresh local ingredients).

In the afternoon you will notably visit That Luang (the most venerated monument in the country), Patuxay (the Laotian own Arc de Triomphe) and Vat Ho Prakeo (which used to host the “Emerald Buddha” that is now on display at Bangkok’s Royal Palace).

If time allows, you will then head to the COPE center, which was established in 2008 and provides a free permanent exhibition providing education on UXO in Laos, and information on the comprehensive rehabilitation services that they offer.

At 7pm, we will head to the bus station for your transfer by a night bus with sleepers to Pakse. You will have dinner in one of the many Vietnamese restaurants around the bus station.

Night in the bus (Note : the guide will not accompany you during the night trip).


Upon arrival in the morning in Pakse, welcome by your guide and breakfast at Sinouk Café.

We will then head to Bolaven Plateau to let you discover astonishing waterfalls, in a well-preserved natural environment. You will contemplate the impressive Tad Fane twin waterfalls (which dive from more than 120m overhead the jungle), and also Tad Yuang waterfalls (landlocked in a magnificent lush forest).

You will lunch en route in a local restaurant. We will stop in a coffee plantation on the road (coffee from the south of Laos is renowned, sometimes called as « the Champagne of coffee »). We will then arrive in Champasak, famous for its old colonial style buildings.

Dinner at your leisure, we nevertheless recommend Nakorn restaurant (from which you will be able to assist to an amazing sunset on the river, and enjoy local food).

Day 9 = DON DET (BKF)

Breakfast at hotel and you will visit Vat Phou, the second UNESCO World Heritage site of Laos. Vat Phou was a part of the Khmer empire, centered on Angkor to the southwest, at least as early as the reign of Yashovarman in the early 10th century. Before visiting it, you will also visit its museum, which will allows you to better understand the specificities and the value of the site.

Lunch at Inthira’s restaurant in Champasak (local food). In the afternoon, we will cross the river continue our road to the south.

We will make a first stop at Uomo’s temple (older than Vat Phou) and then in Ban Nong Bune village, famous for its wooden sculptures.

We will continue our road and board in a pirogue to join the peaceful Don Det island.

You will then check in and enjoy a free late afternoon to rest or discover the surrounding area.

Day 10 = DON DET (BKF)

Breakfast at your hotel. Don Det is located in the « 4000 islands », famous for its myriad of little islands on the Mekong. The main three are Don Khong, Don Det and Don Khone.

You will go for a bicycling tour around the islands and see the old locomotive, railway and colonial bridge built by the French. They wanted to avoid navigating on the rapids and waterfalls that abound on this section of the Mekong.

You will lunch in the island at « Fleur du Mékong » for a quality local food.

In the afternoon you will visit the amazing Li Phi falls. If time permits, you can pay the extra cost on spot and visit Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins. Ban Hang Khon is one of the rare places on earth to spot these endangered mammals.

You will then slowly go back to your hotel and get the end of the day free at leisure.

Day 11 = PAKSE (BKF)

Breakfast at your hotel and morning free at leisure to let you enjoy one last time the astonishing settle of the area, at your own pace.

You will lunch in the island before leaving to Pakse. We will first join the main road to Khone Phapheng, near to the Cambodian border. You will then contemplate one of the most impressive waterfalls in Asia (indeed they have one of the most important waterfall’s flow of the world).

After this, we will go up to the north towards Pakse. You will settle in your hotel and enjoy the end of afternoon free at leisure.

Day 12 = PAKSE (BKF)

Breakfast at your hotel, and time free at leisure until your transfer (without your guide) to the Pakse airport for your onward flight (Assuming a flight from Pakse – Booked by your own).

Note that it is also possible to drive overland to Thailand’s Ubon Ratchathani airport to catch a flight to Bangkok.
